Swiatek began her campaign by reaching the semifinal of the Australian Open – losing to eventual champion Madison Keys. She then lost in the semis of Doha, Indian Wells, Madrid and Roland Garros, before finally entering a summit clash at Bad Homburg. However, she was defeated by Jessica Pegula. The lesser known fact about the World No. 4 is that her only junior Grand Slam came on grass – the surface that she has been scrutinised on.
