Jamal Musiala Injury Update: When Will he Return? Bayern Munich Reveal Extent of the Injury

Bayern Munich have confirmed that Jamal Musiala suffered a ‘serious injury’ during their Club World Cup quarter-final clash against Paris Saint-Germain in Atlanta. The 22-year-old was stretchered off after a collision with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

As per the club’s latest report, Musiala has since been flown back to Munich, where he will undergo surgery. According to the club’s statement, Musiala sustained a fractured fibula along with an ankle dislocation during the collision.

Shocking Scenes Involving Jamal Musiala Injury

The 22-year-old was chasing a loose ball near the byline when Donnarumma dove for it. In the midst of it, he caught Musiala’s left leg. The midfielder’s ankle looked almost dangling after the fact. He was visibly in agony, clutching his ankle.

His teammates and opponents, visibly distraught, immediately signaled for medical assistance. Talking to BBC, Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl described the injury as a major blow for the club and the player. He also iterated that the youngster will get all the support from the club.

Eberl said, “This serious injury and the long absence are a real shock for Jamal and all of us. This hits FC Bayern hard. Everyone knows how immensely important Jamal is for our game and what a central role he plays for our team. Furthermore, the human impact is incredibly bitter; we all feel for him.”

He added, “Jamal has just recovered from an injury and will now be out for another long period. He will get everything he needs from us. We will support him intensively and be by his side, and we are already looking forward to him being back on the pitch.”

Lengthy Spell on the Sidelines Expected

Bayern have not given an official timeline for Musiala’s recovery. However, considering Bayern’s update on the extent of the injury, multiple reports suggest the midfielder could be out for five to six months. Bayern captain Manuel Neuer criticized Donnarumma’s challenge. He called it ‘risky’ and questioned the Italian’s sportsmanship.

Donnarumma later posted a message of support for Musiala on social media, saying, “All my prayers and well wishes are with you Jamal.” The injury is a cruel setback for the German youngster. Especially considering he just recently returned from a previous injury. He is now facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
