The Indiana Fever slumped to the Los Angeles Sparks in their fifth straight game without star player Caitlin Clark at home, Gainbridge Fieldhouse, on Saturday, July 5. On the other hand, the Minnesota Lynx registered their 16th victory of the season as they moved past the debutants, Golden State Valkyries 82-71. Let’s go through the highlights of both the games-

Los Angeles Sparks 89-87 Indiana Fever

The Los Angeles Sparks recorded a narrow victory over the Indiana Fever as they took down the hosts 89-87 on Saturday. The Fever were without their icon Caitlin Clark for the fifth game straight. In addition, Indiana’s defeat also brought an end to their three-game winning streak. The game that had Indiana Pacers’ star Tyrese Haliburton rooting for the Fever, saw Azura Stevens dropping 21 points, 12 rebounds, and two assists. She was shooting 7-of-14 from the field and 3-of-7 from the three-point arc. This marked her seventh 20+ point game of the season.

Apart from her, Kelsey Plum came up with 20 points, three rebounds, and three assists while Dearica Hamby tallied 18 points, three rebounds, and four assists. On the Fever’s side, Aliyah Boston dropped 23 points, 12 rebounds, and dished out four assists. Natasha Howard and Kelsey Mitchell came up with 21 points and 19 points, respectively.

Minnesota Lynx 82-71 Golden State Valkyries

The Minnesota Lynx recorded their 16th victory of the season as they rolled past the Golden State Valkyries 82-71 at Target Center on Saturday. With this, they became the ninth team in the league to have a 10-0 start to a season at home. Lynx’s star player Napheesa Collier came up with another remarkable performance. Leading the league in scoring, Collier dropped 22 points, six rebounds, and one assist.

Courtney Williams tallied 15 points, three rebounds, and two assists while Kayla McBride had 12 points and three assists. Not only this, but Diamond Miller came up with eight points and one assist and surpassed the 500-point mark. For the Valkyries, Tiffany Hayes led the charts with 23 points, three rebounds and four assists. Kayla Thornton recorded her fifth double-double of the season as she chipped in 13 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. Not only this, but Stephanie Talbot also contributed 10 points, four rebounds, and four assists for the WNBA debutants.
