Mayur Dedwal

How Eze’s Multi-Positional Talent and Premier League Pedigree Make Him Arsenal’s Trending Transfer Target

Arsenal are once again on the transfer hunt as they identify Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze as a potential target. Having a versatile prowess, Mikel Arteta seeks the skillset Eze brings to the table.

Eze has a remarkable ability to adapt across multiple roles on the pitch that sets him apart. From dazzling in attack to contributing in deeper positions, Eze’s versatility offers a glimpse of how he could elevate Arsenal’s tactical setup, making him a player perfectly suited to the Gunners.

Positions Eze Has Played

Eze has seen a rise capturing the attention of Arsenal fans and analysts alike. Having played multiple positions throughout his career, the English midfielder could provide certain depth to any squad.

Making his debut in 2017, here are all the positions Eze has settled in:

  • Left Winger: Eze’s flair on the left, cutting in with his right foot, saw him stretch defences at Palace. His 86th percentile ranking for take-ons across Europe highlights his dribbling prowess, ideal for Arsenal’s need for a dynamic wide option.
  • Attacking Midfielder (No. 10): As a No. 10, Eze dictated play with 8 goals and 8 assists in 34 Premier League games last season, nearly matching Martin Ødegaard’s chance creation. He could ease Ødegaard’s playmaking burden or pair with him as a dual No. 8.
  • Box-to-Box Midfielder (No. 8): Eze’s work rate shines in deeper roles, with frequent ball recoveries in midfield and defensive thirds, aligning with Arteta’s demand for versatile grafters.

Trying to add different dynamics and the depth required for long campaigns, the Spanish manager is also reported to have escalated talks for signing Eze. The 27-year-old who guided the Eagles to their first-ever major Trophy is now being sought by some of the world’s elite clubs.

Eberechi Eze’s expected transfer price revolves around his £68 million release clause as of July 2025.  Arsenal are exploring a deal below this figure, possibly through transfers like Eddie Nketiah and Albert Sambi Lokonga.

Various sources are reporting that Arsenal has yet to approach Eze at Crystal Palace. However, having talked with the player’s camp, Arteta is expected to add weight to their pursuit of bringing Eze to Arsenal.

The Englishman could join Bukayo Saka on the flanks or Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice in the midfield. Apart from Eze, the Gunners are exploring options like Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres to add to their front line.
