Many of Diogo Jota’s Liverpool teammates, including Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson and Alexis Mac Allister, travelled to Portugal to stand alongside Jota’s family during this heartbreaking moment. Joined by club staff and former coaches, they paid tribute to the forward and his younger brother.

Outside Anfield, thousands of fans gathered, laying flowers, scarves, and heartfelt messages in tribute to Jota’s memory. Jota’s contributions on the pitch were invaluable as he helped Liverpool secure the Premier League title last season with his tireless energy and decisive goals.
Reports from Portuguese outlet Record have now revealed a touching gesture from Liverpool in the aftermath of this tragedy. According to the report, the club will honour the remainder of Jota’s contract by paying it out in full to his family. Notably, Jota’s contract was set to run until 2027 before his tragic death.
