Carlos Alcaraz is 14-3 in Grand Slam second rounds.
Two-time Wimbledon champion, Carlos Alcaraz will arrive at Centre Court on Wednesday for the second-round clash against Oliver Tarvet. The Spaniard overcame the Italian veteran, Fabio Fognini in a hard-fought first-round matchup. Oliver Tarvet, on the other hand, dispatched Leandro Riedi in straight sets. It will be a battle between current superstar and the local boy. Crowd would definitely be in a diverse mode for this matchup.

Carlos Alcaraz survived a scare against Fognini, who pushed the two-time Wimbledon winner to five sets in the opening round. The world No. 2 is on a 19-match winning streak in the championship and didn’t drop a single game on grass this year. He recently won the title at Queen’s Club which was his fifth title of the season. Alcaraz also reached 30 grass-court wins faster than any other former World No. 1 in tennis’ Open Era.

The first-round game was surely a tough one and he got a tough task from the Italian veteran. Carlos has won 26 out of last 27 matches on grass court and proved why he is the current superstar of the game across all courts. Alcaraz is 14-3 in Grand Slam second rounds and the most recent loss came during the Wimbledon 2021 as a teenager. The Spaniard reached the final in 5 consecutive tournaments, and lost only one in Barcelona.
Oliver Tarvet is the rising British star, who came through a qualifying round and is on a 4-0 winning streak. The local star beat Blockx, Galarneau, and Atmane to reach his Grand Slam debut. In his first main-draw game, Tarvet outclassed Leandro Riedi 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. The British ace made a big transformation from NCAA tennis to pro. He reached in the top 400 after the qualifying success in the Wimbledon. He had a decent season in 2025 with an appearance in an ITF final on grass. It will be his first career top-100 battle and it came against the world No. 2.
What a moment for Oliver Tarvet 🤩

There is no H2H record between Carlos Alcaraz and Oliver Tarvet.

Oliver Tarvet can take inspiration from Fognini but it requires experience and mental toughness against a top-ranked and five-time Grand Slam winner. Centre Court pressure will be on high and Carlos will take this as an advantage. The Spaniard showed great control on grass court and has the ability to make a comeback after going down in initial phase. Tarvet can push Carlos for one extra set through versatile baseline play but scoreboard pressure will not be easy.
Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz to win in straight sets.
As of 1/50, Alcaraz is a clear favorite, and rightly so given his Wimbledon record and grass-court record. Oliver Tarvet’s 33/1 odds reflect his lack of experience and Slam pressure.
