Jamir Watkins, a former guard for the VCU Rams and Florida State Seminoles, hails from Trenton, New Jersey. A three-star recruit out of Trenton Catholic Academy, Watkins began his college career at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2020, appearing in 26 games with 7.2 points and 2.6 points. Jamir Watkins will play for the Washington Wizards after getting picked as the 43rd pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. This pick was traded from the Utah Jazz to the Wizards.

In 2023, he transferred to Florida State, where he started every game as a junior. He averaged 15.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.9 steals, picking up ACC All-Honorable Mention honors and being named MVP of the Sunshine Slam.

Ahead of his senior year, Watkins participated in the Nike Skills Academy and the NBA Draft Combine. In his senior year, Watkins averaged 18.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.2 steals, earning a well-deserved selection to the All-ACC Second Team.
