Top singles stars join forces in the revamped mixed draw of the US Open.
Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud are officially set to play mixed doubles together at the 2025 US Open, the USTA confirmed on Tuesday. The pairing marks their debut as a team in the discipline, adding firepower to an already star-studded 16-team lineup.
Both Swiatek and Ruud are better known for their singles credentials, with limited doubles experience. The Pole lifted the US Open trophy in 2022, the same year Ruud finished runner-up.
Swiatek expressed her excitement during an interview with Tennis Channel, saying, “He’s a great person. He also inspires me, like he is so humble and so nice and he is a true gentleman. So I am also happy that we are going to play mixed double on the US Open.” She also praised Ruud’s recent title run in Madrid, calling his form “amazing” and well-deserved.
"[Casper] is a great person, he also inspires me."

Ruud, for his part, has publicly supported Swiatek in the past. His words after her early exit in Madrid earlier this season signaled a budding friendship, one now translating into an on-court alliance.
Hey @iga_swiatek keep your head up🙏🙏

Like millions of other people I love watching you play. Not your day today, but you inspire so many and you’ll be back stronger than ever!!😊🤩👏🎾 https://t.co/zV2lQE4kKq
Their decision comes in the wake of last year’s successful “Mixed Madness” night, where champions Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas took home $500,000. With the format now expanded and the stakes doubled, the mixed doubles event is becoming a major draw in its own right.
The announcement was part of the US Open’s rollout of its revamped mixed doubles format, which will include nine of the ATP and WTA top 10 and offer a $1 million prize pool. The 16-team event will be contested over two days during the tournament’s opening week, ahead of the main singles action from August 24 to September 7.
Mixed Doubles entry list for the 2025 US Open is (already) out.

Direct acceptances for the top eight pairings will be confirmed on July 28 based on combined singles rankings. The remaining eight will enter through wild cards, to be revealed closer to the tournament.
