It was an eventful NFL Sunday with plenty going on around the league. Week 15 brought out a full slate of NFL Sunday games that did not disappoint. From blowout wins to crucial injuries, Sunday had it all, with massive playoff implications for AFC giants such as the Chiefs and Bengals.
NFL Sunday Games Week 15
Week 15 Sunday games kicked off with as many as 8 games taking place in the early afternoon window, followed by 5 games in the late afternoon, and finishing with Sunday Night Football (SNF) featuring the Cowboys vs Vikings.
Bills Rally in Second Half behind James Cook’s Run Game
The Buffalo Bills took on the New England Patriots in what was an important game for both sides. The Bills needed a win to decrease New England’s gap at the top of the AFC East, whereas the Patriots needed the win to keep the pace for the number one seed in the conference.
Falling back 24-7 at the half, Buffalo mounted a comeback to win 35-31, led by Josh Allen’s 3 touchdown passes and James Cook’s 100-plus yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. Allen also added 48 yards from 11 carries.
Drake Maye had a tough night, going 14 of 23 for just 155 yards, no touchdowns, and a pick, but added 43 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. Running back TreVeyon Henderson had an impressive 148 yards rushing with 2 touchdowns.
The Cincinnati Bengals suffered a monumental 24-0 loss against division rivals, the Baltimore Ravens, in a must-win game earlier in the day. The Bengals were left with no room for error, and even then, their chances of progressing were bleak, but today’s loss has officially kicked them out of the postseason for the third straight season.
Joe Burrow went 25 of 39 for 225 yards but had no touchdown passes, while throwing two picks. Ja’Marr Chase was targeted 16 times and had 10 receptions for 132 yards. Lamara Jackson completed just 8 passes and had only 12 attempts for 150 yards with 2 touchdowns and a pick, while Derrick Henry ended with 100 yards on the ground from just 11 carries.
Chargers Eliminate Chiefs from Playoffs with Season Sweep
Needing a win to keep their playoff hopes alive, the Kansas City Chiefs dropped yet another game, losing 16-13 and going 6-8 on the season. It was their second loss to the Chargers this season after losing the Week 1 game in Brazil to kick off their season.
Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes will miss the postseason for the first time in his career and will also miss the rest of the season as he suffered an ACL injury in the latter stages of the game. Prior to the injury, Mahomes could manage only 189 yards of passing offense, going 16 of 28 with no touchdowns, one interception, and 5 sacks.
Meanwhile, it was an all-around performance by the Chargers with Justin Herbert, Omarion Hampton, and Oronde Gadsden II leading the offense, while the defense pitched a complete shutout in the second half.
The Kansas City Chiefs have been eliminated from playoff contention.
The Jacksonville Jaguars continued their dominant season on the back of quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s massive game. The Jaguars’ signal caller threw for 350 yards and 5 touchdowns, while also leading the ground game with 51 yards and a rushing touchdown to cap off one of the best games of his professional career.
Running back Travis Etienne Jr. actually led all receivers with 3 catches for 73 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Jaguars routed the Jets 48-20. Rookie quarterback Brady Cook was picked off 3 times and sacked 3 times as he finished with just 176 yards for the Jets.

Rams’ Matthew Stafford Wins Quarterback Duel against Lions’ Jared Goff
The game between the Rams and the Lions was another quarterback duel in which Matthew Stafford and his Rams came out on top 41-34. Stafford had 368 yards, 2 touchdowns, and a pick, while Goff ended with 338 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Puka Nacua had 181 receiving yards from just 9 receptions, while Kyren Williams and Blake Corum added 78 and 71 yards on the ground, respectively, for the Rams. Wide receiver Davante Adams left the game early after suffering a hamstring injury.
As for the Lions, they had a quiet run game with neither Jahmyr Gibbs nor David Montgomery being able to cross 40 yards on the ground. Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams both had an amazing game, finishing with 164 and 134 receiving yards and a combined 3 touchdowns.
Seahawks Win Low-Scoring Game against Philip Rivers and the Colts
Sam Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks got off to a slow start, entering halftime down 13-6 to the Philip Rivers-led Indianapolis Colts. However, a second-half turnaround helped them to a slender 18-16 win.
Darnold had 271 passing yards, while Jaxon Smith-Njigba had another 100-plus-yard receiving game, catching 7 passes for 113 yards. Philip Rivers finished his first game under center in nearly 5 years with 120 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
Bo Nix Outplays Jordan Love As Broncos Ease Past Packers
The Denver Broncos notched up their 11th straight win with a 34-26 victory over the Green Bay Packers. Bo Nix had a memorable evening, finishing with 302 yards and 4 touchdowns as he outplayed Jordan Love on Sunday. Love managed 276 yards and a touchdown, but also threw a couple of picks and was sacked 3 times.
Green Bay received more crushing news, as top pass rusher Micah Parsons is believed to have suffered an ACL injury, although further details are pending. This devastating news means Parsons’ season could be over, or he would end up missing multiple weeks at the very least.
The NFL Sunday games finally came to an end with the Minnesota Vikings earning a hard-fought win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. The Vikings came into the game already eliminated from postseason play, but that did not deter them from putting on a show in Arlington, Texas.
J.J. McCarthy had 250 yards, 2 passing touchdowns, a rushing touchdown, and an interception as he carried the Vikings to a 34-26 win over the Cowboys. It was a struggle for Dak Prescott on the other side, who, despite passing for 294 yards, was not able to rally the team. Tonight’s loss has put a massive dent in Dallas’ chances of progressing to the playoffs.
