Jaxon Smith-Njigba Is Miles Ahead of All Other Receivers, on Pace for 2,000-Yard Season!

JSN on pace to break the single season NFL receiving yards record!

During the offseason, the Seattle Seahawks made significant changes to their wide receiver room. The release of longtime receiver Tyler Lockett, coupled with the trade of DK Metcalf to the Steelers, meant that Seattle placed a lot of faith in their third-year receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s able shoulders.

The Seahawks did acquire former Rams’ receiver Cooper Kupp as a free agent to bolster the receiver room, but even with him on the roster, it has become the Jaxon Smith-Njigba or JSN as he is fondly called show for the Seahawks.

JSN by Far the Best Receiver through Week 10 of the 2025–26 NFL Season

After 10 weeks of football, Smith-Njigba is currently very much ahead in terms of receiving yards as compared to the next best pass catchers, which include the likes of Ja’Marr Chase, Ouka Nacua, George Pickens, and Amon-Ra St. Brown, who make up the top 5.

Through Week 10, Smith-Njigba currently leads the pack with 1,041 receiving yards, and is the only one to break the 1,000-yard barrier so far this season. The next man up is Ja’Marr Chase, who is as much as 210 yards behind JSN with 831 receiving yards.

Puka Nacua comes in at the number 3 spot with 775 receiving yards, followed by George Pickens and Amon-Ra St. Brown, respectively, with 764 and 693 receiving yards.

The Seahawks’ third-year receiver has shown consistent improvement, quickly elevating himself as the team’s best wide receiver despite going up against top-quality receivers such as Lockett and Metcalf.

JSN finished his rookie season with 628 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns, and followed that up with 1,130 yards and 6 touchdowns in his second year, showcasing a steady rise in production.

Seahawks Limiting Jaxson Smith-Njigba’s Usage

With 1,041 receiving yards through 10 weeks of football, Smith-Njigba is currently on pace to end the season with 119 receptions, 9 touchdowns, and 1,966 receiving yards, which would be the most ever in league history. It would also mean that he would fall short of the exclusive 2,000 receiving yards mark by just 34 yards if he keeps up this pace.

So far this season, JSN has eclipsed 100 receiving yards in 6 of the 9 games he has played in, including a run of 4 consecutive games. His best haul came against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6 when he had 162 yards.

So far in the history of the NFL, only two players have ever breached the 1,900 receiving yards barrier. Calvin Johnson had 1,964 yards in 2012 for the Detroit Lions, which still stands as the most receiving yards by a player in a single season. Smith-Njigba’s teammate Cooper Kupp is the only other player with 1,947 yards in 2021 for the Los Angeles Rams.

The only problem is that the Seahawks are limiting the snap count for their WR1 whenever the team is ahead by several scores in order to protect him from injury. Moreover, Seattle prefers to run the ball more, as it allows them to run down the clock as well.

If they continue with the same process in the upcoming games, that could severely hinder Smith-Njigba from possibly going for 2,000 yards this season.
