Is It Time to Panic in Green Bay after Yet Another Worthless Showing by the Packers’ Offense in Week 10?

The Green Bay Packers in recent weeks have not looked like the same Green Bay Packers that began the season with a thumping victory over the Detroit Lions in Week 1.

That 27-13 win over the Lions, followed up by a 27-18 win over the Commanders, gave reason to believe that the Packers were going to be true contenders this year, but ever since then, their season has become nothing but a mixed bag.

With losses against the Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, and, more recently, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Packers seem to be going backwards, and that is not a positive sign, especially with some tough games coming up. So, what exactly is the problem, and should Cheeseheads start worrying at this point in their season?

Jordan Love Not Playing at a High Enough Level

One of the major concerns for the Packers is the current level of play from quarterback Jordan Love. The 27-year-old has looked completely different in the 3 losses suffered by Green Bay as against his play in their 5 wins.

Former NFL defensive end and now analyst, Chris Canty, believes that everybody on the Packers team is doing a great job, except for the quarterback.

“Jordan Love is bad and he’s probably gonna get his coach fired if he can’t get it fixed,” said Canty on ESPN’s First Take following the Packers’ Monday Night Football (MNF) loss to the Eagles.

“When you make the move that the Green Bay Packers did before the season, trading multiple first-round draft picks and Kenny Clark, who is a perennial Pro Bowler for Micah Parsons, what you are saying is that you believe this roster is good enough to contend for a championship. And every single facet of the football team is playing at a high level except for the quarterback.”

In truth, statistics indicate that Love is averaging 211 passing yards per game, one touchdown, 3 turnovers, and a passer rating of 78.3 in the Packers’ 3 losses. On the flip side, in the five games that Green Bay has won, he is averaging 30 points per game, 269 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, and two turnovers.

Offense Is Too Conservative

At the moment, it seems that head coach Matt LaFleur and the Packers are being way too conservative on the offensive side of the ball. While the defense has gone about its business holding the Panthers and the Eagles to 16 and 10 points, respectively, in the last couple of weeks, Green Bay’s offense still wasn’t able to find a way to win.

A key reason behind this could be the weak offensive line, which is not only bad at pass protection, but it has also been terrible in run blocking. As a result, the Packers are playing too much of a safe game and keep finding themselves in third-down situations.

The fact of the matter is that the explosiveness from the offense has vanished over these past few games. Whether the reason is to ensure they don’t turn the ball over, or whether it is due to the bad O-line play, is just speculation, but Green Bay needs to find ways to unleash on that side of the ball.

Injuries to Key Offensive Players

Injuries to key players such as tight end Tucker Kraft, who is now out for the season, have also set the team back. Rookie wideout Matthew Golden missed the last game, Romeo Doubs left the Monday Night game early due to a chest injury, Christian Watson just recently returned, and Jayden Reed is also on IR.

With the loss against the Eagles on MNF, the Packers are now 5-3-1and have slipped below the Lions and the Bears for third spot in the NFC North. The Packers still have plenty of tough games coming up, including key divisional battles as well. So, now the question is whether it is time to panic for Packers fans?
