Jaxson Dart Rewrites the Record Books – Becomes First NFL QB to Rush for a Touchdown in 5 Consecutive Games!

Giants slip to 2-8 following Sunday's loss to the Bears!

Heading into the 2025 NFL draft, New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart wasn’t seen as one of the top 2 signal callers in that draft class. Nevertheless, with the first round of draft picks coming to an end, the Giants surprised one and all by selecting Dart ahead of Shedeur Sanders with the 25th overall pick.

Judging on how much Dart has already brought to this Giants’ offense, the team as a whole, and the entire fanbase, it is safe to say that the think tank in the Big Apple had clearly seen something others hadn’t.

Now, after starting in just his seventh game as a rookie, Dart has already etched his name in the history books after he rushed for a pair of touchdowns against the Bears on Sunday.

Jaxson Dart Sets Rushing Touchdown Record

During Sunday’s Week 10 game between the Giants and the Bears, Jaxson Dart ran in for a 3-yard touchdown in the second quarter, tying the game at 7 apiece. In doing so, Dart also set an NFL record as the first quarterback to ever rush for at least one touchdown for 5 games in a row.

The previous record was held by former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, who had found the endzone on the ground for 4 consecutive games.

Eventually, Dart would leave the game early in the fourth quarter and is currently under concussion protocol. However, before coming out of the game, Dart had already thrown for 242 yards and added 66 yards on the ground, including 2 rushing touchdowns.

His performance on Sunday reiterated the fact that he is the latest among a rising trend of dual-threat quarterbacks. Having played in 8 games this season, Dart has already accumulated 1,417 passing yards, with 10 touchdowns, as well as 317 rushing yards with 7 touchdowns on the ground.

Giants’ Future Looks Bright with Dart Moving Forward

After 10 games, the Giants are 2-8 on the season, and their chances of making the playoffs are next to impossible. That being said, their campaign got off to a terrible start as they lost WR1 Malik Nabers for the season in just the 4th game, and then lost rookie running back Cam Skattebo in Week 8. Prior to that, Skattebo was having a fairly decent rookie season in the backfield.

With not much to work with in terms of offensive weapons, Dart still managed to put in quality performances for the Giants, even though the wins didn’t come. Still, if there is a silver lining to the cloud, then it is that moving forward, New York may have found its long-term solution under center. And if the core players on the team can remain healthy, next season could be quite different.

I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
