Alexander Bublik Vows to ‘Blow the Lid Off the ATP’ With Groundbreaking Revelation After Controversial Paris Masters 2025 Win

Bublik has won four titles in 2025.

World No. 16 Alexander Bublik has agreed to make a game-changing revelation that will change the dimensions of the ATP towards the end of his career. The 28-year-old came through a challenging opening round encounter against Alexei Popyrin at the 2025 Paris Masters on Monday. After his victory, Bublik made a promise to Tennis Channel’s Prakash Amritraj.

The 2025 season has been more than rewarding for Bublik. After a poor start, the Kazakh powerhouse reached his maiden Grand Slam quarterfinal at Roland Garros 2025. He went on to capture his first title of the season at the Terra Wortmann Open – beating top seed Jannik Sinner along the way. With an apparent change in mindset and approach, Bublik won three more trophies – in Gstaad, Kitzbuhel and Hangzhou.

Bublik joined Prakash Amritraj on the Tennis Channel desk after moving to the Round of 32 at Paris Bercy. According to sources, the 28-year-old informed Amritraj that he will dish out an interview that will ‘blow the lid off the ATP’ before retiring. Bublik also spoke about the increased expectations he has of himself, stating, “Now I enjoy more because maybe I’m going to achieve something big that I never thought I could.”

Alexander Bublik Earns Big Win in Paris Bercy, Refuses to Shake Hands

Despite delivering a scintillating performance on Monday, Bublik raised eyebrows and grabbed headlines for his post-match decision. The 13th seed completed a routine 6-4 6-3 win over Australia’s Alexei Popyrin to advance to the next stage at the City of Light. However, he headed straight for the umpire’s chair and proceeded to pack up his kit without acknowledging his opponent.

Although there was no apparent conflict during the course of the encounter, one moment may have annoyed Sascha. Up 2-0 in the second set, Bublik was down break points against a rallying Popyrin. The 26-year-old Aussie then hit the net chord twice en route to breaking back, and did not apologize for the same. While it is not a mandatory requirement to do so, it could have triggered the 6’5” Kazakh.

“I definitely didn’t play my best today, but tennis is not about bringing your best every day,” Bublik said after holding his nerve to succeed in straight sets. Having already beaten Popyrin earlier this year, he struck 31 winners and just 16 unforced errors on Monday. “I’m quite happy with the win but not really happy with my performance… but overall, a win is a win.”

Alexander Bublik will face either Corentin Moutet or Reilly Opelka in the Round of 32 at Paris Bercy.
