Norchad Omier was born on August 28, 2001, in Bluefields, Nicaragua. During his childhood, he participated in several sports, including baseball. It wasn’t until he was 13 that he started playing basketball, after a local coach recognized his height. He honed his skills at La Academica de Basketball Bluefields in his hometown. Omier’s college basketball career began at Arkansas State, where he played from 2020 to 2022. During the 2021-22 season, he achieved significant recognition, being named Sun Belt Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. After his time at Arkansas State, he transferred to the University of Miami (Florida), playing for the Hurricanes from 2022 to 2024. As a junior, he averaged an impressive 13.1 points and 10 rebounds per game. He played in all 37 games, starting 36 in the 2022-23 season, with averages of 13.1 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.1 blocks in 28.8 minutes per game. He shot 57.4% from the field and 73.6% from the free-throw line, and led the team with 16 double-doubles. For the 2024-2025 season, Omier transferred to Baylor.
