Tributes from Arsenal and Beyond

Vigar joined Arsenal’s academy in 2017 and signed his first professional contract in 2022. He appeared in Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy. Vigar then went on loan spells with Derby County and Eastbourne Borough. He later moved to Hastings United and then finally to Chichester City.

Arsenal paid tribute, calling him “quick, powerful and fiercely determined.” They reminisced how Vigar once described being scouted as “the most important day of his life.” Manager Mikel Arteta said, “It’s shocking news. Straight away you think about the family and how difficult it is to go through something like this in a very unexpected way.”

A petition to ban brick walls near pitches has already gained thousands of signatures. Brain injury charity Headway called the tragedy “even harder to bear, knowing that the warnings were there.” They urged stakeholders to act swiftly to prevent future incidents.
