Set to make her Top-5 debut very soon, Amanda Anisimova will bid for a maiden Grand Slam title on Saturday. The American home favorite will enter the battlefield against World No. 1 and defending champion Aryna Sabalenka in the US Open 2025 final. Anisimova has enjoyed a fairytale tournament that even her wildest dreams could not have scripted. The 8th seed, who has made back-to-back major finals now, is one step away from history.

After a slightly shaky start to her campaign, Anisimova returned to form with a dominant win over Beatriz Haddad Maia in the Round of 16 in New York. However, it was her glorious redemption against 2025 Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek that really got people talking. Producing a come from behind victory vs four-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka in the semifinal, Amanda Anisimova entered her first summit clash at Flushing Meadows.

Vleeshouwers coached Anisimova to the biggest title of her career, at Doha in 2025. “I am incredibly proud for more things than I can write down, but besides the achievement, what stands out is your personal growth along the way,” he said after her title charge in February.

Anisimova’s team also includes physiotherapist Shadi Soleymani and performance analyst/strength and conditioning coach Rob Brandsma. Soleymani, who is a chiropractor with a specialization in biomechanics, began working with the 23-year-old this year. On the other hand, Brandsma and Anisimova have an association that dates back to when she was a teenager.

Family – Mother, Sister, Nephew

Olga Anisimova is the mother of Amanda Anisimova’s mother Olga is a constant in her box during big events. She was one of the first people who played tennis with the now 24-year-old, when she was introduced to the sport. Alongside her ex and late husband Konstantin Anisimov (passed away in 2019), the Russian origin family moved to the USA in 1998. Olga was in the banking industry, and raised her two daughters in Miami.

Anisimova also has an elder sister named Maria Anisimova-Egee. Maria played college tennis for the University of Pennsylvania, and inspired Amanda to take up the sport. “I always saw her playing, and I wanted to do it too. That’s how I got into it and my parents got into it too,” the New Jersey-born WTA virtuoso revealed in an old interview. Previously a vice president at Goldman Sachs, Maria was also named in the Forbes ‘30 Under 30’ list for the finance industry in 2018. She is likely to be cheering her sister on Arthur Ashe Stadium too.

After beating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the Wimbledon QF earlier this year, Anisimova had a special guest during her on-court interview. “He flew in this morning, and it’s his birthday on Thursday,” Anisimova said of her 4-year-old nephew. The young boy Jaxon, who has been watching his aunt make history over the past few months, might get to witness her first Grand Slam success after the Wimbledon heartbreak.
