One of the pleasant surprises of the US Open 2025, Felix Auger-Aliassime has been playing some of the best tennis of his life recently. The 25-year-old Canadian is finally proving his potential, and is one win away from a maiden Grand Slam final. The 25th seed is set to face World No. 1 and defending champion Jannik Sinner in possibly the biggest match of his life on Friday. By virtue of his impressive fortnight, Auger-Aliassime is now in contention for an ATP Finals spot.

Currently 365 points behind Lorenzo Musetti who currently sits at No. 8, Auger-Aliassime has notched some brilliant results after a run of poor outings. He has beaten Billy Harris, Roman Safiullin, Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev and Alex de Minaur en route to the final four. Felix Auger-Aliassime Coach and Support Staff

Frederic Fontang is the head coach of Felix Auger-Aliassime. He has been seated in the World No. 27’s box, guiding him throughout the course of the tournament at Flushing Meadows. Fontang is a French former professional tennis player who retired in 1999 and then became a coach. The now 55-year-old coached former Top-30 player Jeremy Chardy, before taking up assignments with Caroline Garcia and Vasek Pospisil. He began working with FAA in 2017.

During this time, Rafael Nadal’s uncle Toni Nadal also played the role of a coach and mentor. He worked alongside the Canadian prodigy between 2021 and 2024. “He has been an important part of my success in the past two years,” Auger-Aliassime said in a 2023 interview. “I was happy that he was there, actually.” Prior to this, his father Sam Aliassime coached him during his initial years.

Family – Father, Mother, Siblings

Felix Auger-Aliassime’s father Sam has played a vital role in his growth as a tennis player. The elder-statesman of the Aliassime family was born in Togo and grew up with a desire of becoming a footballer. Meanwhile, mother Marie Auger is Auger-Aliassime’s mother. She is a college teacher by profession, but also takes time to actively support her son during matches. Although his parents are not together anymore, the family functions as a single unit and supports one another.

Apart from his parents, Auger-Aliassime also has a sister named Malika. She is also a tennis player.

Partner – Nina Ghaibi

In November 2024, Auger-Aliassime proposed to his girlfriend Nina Ghaibi during a vacation in Seychelles. The couple has been together for over six years, and is set to tie the knot right after the US Open 2025. Ghaibi, also 25, is an equestrian by profession. They will get married in Marrakech, Morocco close to two weeks after the tournament.

“I didn’t do much [to help with wedding preparations]. As long as I have my suit ready, that’s the best I can do,” joked the two-time Grand Slam semifinalist. “But she has been amazing. Her and her family have been taking care of a lot, and I have to give her all the credit.”
