Orlando Magic Acquires Former Los Angeles Lakers Center

Castleton played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Toronto Raptors, and Philadelphia 76ers in 2024-25.

The Orlando Magic brought a reinforcement for the pivot position and made a big decision on Friday. According to journalist Michael Scotto, the franchise closed a deal with Colin Castleton. The pivot already had a stint with the Los Angeles Lakers, in 2023-24. However, he only stayed for one season and went through three teams last year.

Will Colin Castleton Complement their Roster ahead of 2025-26 Season?

Castleton played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Toronto Raptors, and Philadelphia 76ers in 2024-25. His best stint was with the Raptors, where he played 11 games—four as a starter—and averaged 7.2 points and 6.9 rebounds. As such, he’s just a complement to a Magic roster that already has Wendell Carter Jr., Goga Bitadze, Moritz Wagner, and Orlando Robinson at the position.

For the Lakers, he only appeared on the court in 16 games, averaging less than four minutes. However, he performed well on the California giant’s Summer League and G-League teams. In fact, he was one of the league’s standouts there last season, averaging 18.2 points and 10.6 rebounds.

With the Eastern Conference without its last two champions to contend for big things, 2025-26 seems more open than ever. Thus, the Orlando Magic could enter the conversation with the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks as one of the conference favorites. However, they will need to overcome some traumas.

The main one is the injuries affecting the squad. Orlando has had two good seasons, but last season suffered greatly from injury issues. Paolo Banchero , Franz Wagner, Moritz Wagner, and Jalen Suggs missed a significant number of games. Therefore, the team had to compete in the Play-in to qualify for the playoffs.

Additionally, the offense has been a problem. However, solutions may have arrived in the hands of Desmond Bane and Tyus Jones.
