LeBron James to Reunite with Stephen Curry? Warriors Reportedly Made Multiple Offers to Acquire Lakers Superstar

During the 2024 Olympics in Paris, many sports stories unfolded before our eyes. However, for basketball fans, the biggest one was the US men’s national team, with LeBron James and Stephen Curry playing together. In fact, the partnership was so successful that the Golden State Warriors attempted to replicate it with their own squad.

That’s because, according to journalist Jake Fischer, the Warriors have been in contact with the Los Angeles Lakers several times over the last year and a half trying to trade for LeBron. “I’m told the Warriors have called the Lakers on multiple occasions over the past 18 months to see if there was any trade path to pair LeBron James with Stephen Curry,” the NBA insider wrote on Substack.

However, obviously, no deal was finalized during this period, and now, talk of LeBron leaving the Lakers has cooled. The forward accepted his player option for next season and is expected to remain in Los Angeles, as his contract is significant and the impact of a trade would be even greater.

On the other hand, the good news is that LeBron is eligible for free agency after this season and will be free on the market if he doesn’t retire from the NBA. So, he and Curry could team up for 2026-27 as long as they accept reduced salaries to fit the bill.

What’s are the potential trades for LeBron James?

Golden State Warriors can go for two options if the rumors are true. LeBron James and Stephen Curry come together, that’s the Warriors’ plan.

Option 1: Jimmy Butler to the Lakers, LeBron James to the Warriors.
Option 2: Draymond Green + Moses Moody + Buddy Hield to the Lakers, LeBron James to the Warriors.

Therefore, it’s possible to imagine that basically any other player would be available to make a trade possible. Most likely, in this case, the team would need to include Jimmy Butler in the trade. This is because, besides playing the same position as LeBron James, Butler’s salary is practically the same, making the move easier.

In fact, it could be a good move for the Lakers, bringing in a winger capable on both sides of the court and a little younger.

On the other hand, if Golden State wants to keep Butler, the second option would need to be Green and other contracts. Therefore, the most viable scenario would be a combination of Moody and Hield, where the Lakers would walk away with a great defender, a young player, and a shooter close to Luka Doncic. Honestly, I think it’s unlikely the Warriors would accept that.
