Canada suffered the injury during Atlanta's clash against Phoenix on August 10.
Atlanta Dream guard Jordin Canada has been diagnosed with a right hamstring injury which she sustained during the clash against the Phoenix Mercury on August 10. The team has been dealing with multiple injuries over the past few weeks, but they continue to dominate their rivals. In their previous match against the Mercury, the Dream registered a huge 74-66 win over their counterparts. However, they ended up losing one of their key players, Canada, to a right leg injury during the game.
The injury has now been diagnosed as a right hamstring injury, as announced by the Atlanta Dream. The team which is currently seeded in the third spot of the standings, released a statement stating, “Following further evaluation, Jordin Canada has been diagnosed with a right hamstring injury sustained during the Atlanta Dream’s game on August 10.” Notably, during the clash against the Mercury, the two-time WNBA Champion suffered the injury while driving to the basket against Alyssa Thomas.
While hopping off the court, Canada didn’t put much weight on her right leg and collapsed behind the basket. She was attended by the Dream’s medical staff and was carried to the locker room. The 30-year-old didn’t return for the remainder of the game and finished with 13 points, two rebounds, and one assist.

The official statement by the Atlanta Dream reveals that she will be out for at least two weeks. They stated that a timeline of her return will be provided when appropriate. However, the Dream are hopeful that Canada will make a full recovery. It is to be noted that this isn’t the first time she will miss some time due to injury. Earlier during the Dream’s first preseason game, she suffered a knee injury, and was sidelined for the beginning of the season.
However, Canada quickly returned to the court, and was doing well for her team. She has been averaging 12.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game, while shooting 40.2% from the field and 30.3% from beyond the arc. Talking about the Dream, they did well during Canada’s absence and are expected to continue with the same momentum. Atlanta is 10-4 at home, and 10-7 on the road, currently on a five-game winning streak.
