“Hungry to Go Beyond” – Jack Draper Sets US Open 2025 Injury Return Against Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner

Back from injury for the US Open 2025, Jack Draper sets his sights on challenging Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.

Jack Draper is ready for the US Open, but his mind is already on the game’s biggest challenge, catching and eventually surpassing Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. The British No. 1, who has not played since a second-round Wimbledon exit to Marin Cilic due to an arm injury, is making his comeback after missing both the Toronto and Cincinnati Masters.

Draper confirmed to the LTA that his injury is behind him and that he’s “in a great place personally and tennis-wise.” But while the fitness update is welcome, his comments on the sport’s top two players are what stand out.

Jack Draper Eager to Test Himself Against Tennis’s Top Two

“Jannik and Carlos are the best two players in the world right now,” Draper said. “They are playing tennis, which is very exciting to watch; it’s electric. There are no holes in their game; they are so consistent and powerful. Mentally, they are both very experienced now on the big stages, and they are both complete players. Saying that, they can still improve, so it’s really exciting to be around them.”

The Brit has felt their dominance firsthand. Last year’s US Open semi-final run, featuring wins over Alex de Minaur, Tomas Machac, and Botic van de Zandschulp, ended with Sinner in his path. In June, Draper also watched Alcaraz defend his French Open crown against Sinner in one of the year’s standout matches.

While acknowledging the gap, Draper made it clear he isn’t playing for second place. “They are leading the way, but there are players like me who are hungry to go beyond their level and will do anything to get to where they are playing. I’m looking forward to many more matchups with them to come.”

Draper’s 2025 season has already been career-best territory, claiming the Indian Wells title and his career-best runs at both the Australian Open and Roland Garros. Now, with the US Open on the horizon, he enters the season’s final Slam with both the fitness and fire to test himself against the sport’s standard-bearers.

And as he said, “Like always, I’m going to give it my best. My preparation has been great, I keep on improving, and if I make it, great, but if I don’t, life moves on, and I’ll keep striving to be better.”
