Ousmane Dembele Deserves To Win Ballon d’Or: PSG Boss Luis Enrique After Champions League Victory

Paris St-Germain won their first ever Champions League title with a dominant 5-0 win over Inter Milan in the final at the Allianz Arena in Munich. The French giants have finally reached the pinnacle of European football. Under the tactical guidance of Luis Enrique, PSG produced a performance of sheer brilliance and attacking intent in the final.

Against Inter Milan, PSG were relentless. The 5-0 scoreline marked one of the most dominant final performances in Champions League history and brought France its first UCL title since Marseille’s in 1993. Youngster Desire Doue struck twice while Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and teenage sensation Senny Mayulu also scored one apiece. PSG’s victory in the final also enhanced Ousmane Dembele’s status in the Ballon d’Or conversation.

It was a fitting end to the campaign for Dembele in which he tallied 33 goals and 15 assists in 49 matches. The French winger dazzled throughout the tournament and capped his season with a standout display in the final. This season has been the most prolific season of his career. The 28-year-old Frenchman has silenced the critics and rewritten the narrative around his fitness and consistency.

He scored crucial goals against the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal, and also provided key assists over two legs against Aston Villa. Dembele’s form has already been rewarded with individual accolades. He was named Ligue 1 Player of the Season and shared the league’s Golden Boot with Marseille’s Mason Greenwood

Following PSG’s emphatic 5-0 victory, manager Luis Enrique made no secret of his admiration for Ousmane Dembele. Enrique was impressed by Dembele’s overall display in the match, particularly his off-the-ball work.

Enrique said: “I would give the Ballon d’Or to Ousmane Dembele for the way he defended in this final. That’s what you call leading a team. I sincerely believe he deserves the Ballon d’Or, without a doubt, not just for the titles he won or the goals he scored, but for his pressing. He’s done it all season, but exceptionally in this final.”
