While not related by blood, the bond between Thuram and Henry still runs deep.

Thuram helped the Nerazzurri clinch their 20th Scudetto in his debut season at Inter Milan last year. He has played a crucial role in building up the momentum in attack ever since he signed for for Inter Milan. The French attacker also led the Italian giants to the final of the Champions League this season. Thuram registered 14 goals and 4 assists across 32 league appearances this season in Serie A.

How Are Thierry Henry and Marcus Thuram Related?

Marcus Thuram is the son of French football legend Lilian Thuram, a World Cup and Euro winner and former teammate of Thierry Henry. The two played together at AS Monaco, Juventus, and most famously, for the French national team that lifted the 1998 World Cup and the Euro 2000 title.

Due to this long-standing friendship between their fathers, Henry became a constant figure in Marcus’s life from a young age. Speaking on CBS Sports’ Morning Footy show, Marcus Thuram called Henry his “best uncle,” highlighting the personal connection beyond their professional ties.

The striker said back in 2024, “I’d like to thank Thierry Henry – maybe he’s going to see this – for all the advice that he gave me, and I hope that this is only the start. He’s like my best uncle; he’s the uncle who’s here for me, to help me in good moments and bad moments. He always tells me the truth; today, I’d like to take the time to thank him because if I’m here, it’s because of him.”

From Clairefontaine To Champions League

Henry’s influence on Marcus Thuram wasn’t just familial, it was also footballing. The two share a bond through Clairefontaine, France’s elite football academy where many of the country’s top talents have trained. Henry is a proud product and long-time supporter of the academy, and Marcus followed the same pathway years later.

Despite his stellar achievements, Marcus Thuram still has a long journey ahead if he hopes to reach the legendary heights of Thierry Henry. Henry is widely considered as one of the greatest players in Premier League history. His influence extends far beyond his playing days as he has inspied so many footballers around the world.
