Coppa Italia 2025 Prize Money: How Much Have Bologna Earned Along With the Trophy?

The Financial Stakes Are Higher Than Ever in This Year’s Coppa Italia Showdown.

AC Milan and Bologna faced off at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome for the 2025 Coppa Italia final. And this time, Bologna took away the spoils. Milan’s chase for their first Coppa Italia since 2003 remains on. Meanwhile, Bologna have ended a 27-year trophy drought. The final was an extremely close affair.

The Rossoblu snatched the cup from the Rossoneri with a narrow 0-1 win. They didn’t just take home the trophy, but also the big prize money that came with it. Thanks to a new broadcast deal and a revamped prize structure, the financial incentives for this year’s competition are significantly higher than previous editions.

According to Calcio & Finanza, the winner of this year’s Coppa Italia will pocket approximately €7.1 million. Meanwhile the runner-up is set to earn around €4.6 million. These figures mark a sharp increase from the 2023/24 season, when Juventus received €4.6 million for winning. Whereas, Atalanta earned €2 million as finalists.

Record Broadcast Deal Drives Prize Pool Surge

The substantial boost in prize money is largely due to Mediaset’s new broadcasting deal. The Italian broadcaster secured exclusive rights for both the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana for a total of €58 million annually. This is a huge increase from the previous €48 million-per-year deal that covered 2021 to 2024.

Prize money distribution is structured through the tournament stages. For this season, clubs are earning €400,000 for reaching the Round of 16. They earn €850,000 for the quarterfinals and €1.7 million for the semifinals. That’s how a top-tier team that started earning the prize money since the Round of 16 could potentially earn the full €7.1 million by winning the title.

However, final figures may still shift slightly depending on the sale of international broadcasting rights. The exact figure is yet to be finalized but it is certain to be significantly more than last season.

More Than Just Money at Stake

Beyond prize money, lifting the Coppa Italia also carries sporting significance. Especially for Bologna who have won the trophy for the first time since 1974. Winning the game brought them the honour of winning this prestigious trophy and the financial gain that came with it.

Additionally, they have secured qualification for the Europa League next season. Thus, increasing exposure, commercial revenue, and club prestige. Even the runner-up, AC Milan have benefited greatly from the financial point of view through visibility and potential boosts in merchandise and ticket sales.
