The Atlanta Falcons’ 2024 season was a bumpy ride, to say the least. They finished their season with an 8-9 record and were second in the NFC South division. The 2024 season began full of promises for the Falcons as they hired head coach Raheem Morris, who has two Super Bowls under his belt so far as a coach. The Falcons also signed QB Kirk Cousins to a massive 4-year, $180 million contract in 2024. Cousins had a decent first season with the Falcons but it wasn’t enough as Atlanta missed the playoffs. The Falcons have not made the playoffs since 2018 and have never won a Super Bowl.

How Did the Falcons Perform Last Season?

The Falcons had a strong start to the 2024 season, as they had a 6-3 record by week 9 of the regular season. The Falcons finished the season ranked 6th in total offense and Cousins played a huge part in that. He also broke the franchise record for most passing yards in a single game with 509 against the Buccaneers. Everything clicked for the Falcons on the offensive side of the field but their defense was quite simply horrible as they ranked 23rd in total defense. Their lackluster defense led to the firing of Jimmy Lake after the season ended, who was their defensive coordinator.

There are a lot of bright spots for the Falcons as their young stars like Drake London and Bijan Robinson showed flashes of their true potential. This has given many Atlanta fans hope that the team could soon end their 7-year playoff drought.
