Garima Ranawat

Flagg maintained an average of 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game in the 2024-25 season.

The NBA Draft Lottery 2025 is scheduled for Monday, May 12, 2025 in Chicago. The draft lottery will give the 14 non-playoff teams or the lottery teams to try their luck to draft a higher pick in the NBA draft. As teams gear up for one of the most crucial events of the forthcoming season, they all have one common name in mind- Cooper Flagg.

Flagg, the Blue Devils star, has emerged as one of the most versatile and excellent players in the recent collegiate basketball scenarios. The 18-year-old is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft. The basketball prodigy maintained an average of 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game in the 2024-25 season. In his final 25 games, Flagg posted 20.5 points, seven rebounds, and 4.6 assists.

Best Five Landing Spots For Cooper Flagg

There are numerous other reasons why he is likely to be drafted as the first overall pick. While every team would aim to sign him, which would be the best landing spot for the youngster? Let’s have a look.

San Antonio Spurs- 6%

The San Antonio Spurs finished the 2024-25 season in the 13th spot with a poor record of 34 wins and 48 defeats. The franchise is one of the top ideal fits for Flagg, as they already have Victor Wembanyama. Pairing the French superstar with Flagg would help the team build a formidable duo. Not only will it allow Flagg explore and expand his horizons, but it would also help the franchise grow in the forthcoming season.

Portland Trail Blazers- 3.7%

The Portland Trail Blazers, who finished in the 12th spot in the West with a 36-46 record, had the 22nd best offensive rating of 111.0. In terms of the defensive rating, they were 16th with 113.7. Flagg, on the other hand is a versatile player, who not only has scoring abilities, but he also ranks ninth in the ACC with his 7.5 rebounds per game. The versatility of Flagg, and his ability to play both offense and defense would make him a great fit for the Blazers.

Brooklyn Nets- 9%

The Nets, who finished the season with a 26-56 record, have multiple picks, which can help them build strong a team around Cooper Flagg. Apart from two other first-round picks in the 2025 NBA Draft, the Nets have only four players under contract for the forthcoming season. This would give them flexibility to come up with a strong roster with free agents and young stars. Moreover, Flagg’s 26.8% assist rate would also help the Nets, who were 21st in assist ratio.

Utah Jazz- 14%

The bottom-seeded Utah Jazz, who finished the season with a 17-65 record, have the best chances to land Flagg. While the Jazz couldn’t do much this season, they still have one of the best organizational structures. Being a part of teams like the Jazz would enable Flagg to groom and build a strong foundation of his career.

Washington Wizards- 14%

The Wizards ended the 2024-25 season with an 18-64 record, and could be a perfect fit for a player like Flagg, who brings consistency to the team. Wizards finished with the worst offensive rating in the season with 105.8, and having Flagg in their roster would certainly improve their offense.
