Kyshawn George
Kyshawn Shanty Alonzo George was born on December 12, 2003, in Aigle, Switzerland. With dual Swiss and Canadian nationality, George grew up in Monthey, Switzerland, and showed a talent for basketball from an early age. In 2016, he was part of the team that won the Swiss U-16 basketball championship. Later, Kyshawn moved to France, where he played for four years at Élan Chalon. During high school, he experienced a remarkable growth spurt, jumping from 1.73 m to an impressive 2.01 m upon entering university. Still young, George represented the Swiss U-16 National Team, playing six games in the 2019 U-16 EuroBasket Division B.
University Career
In April 2023, Kyshawn George, rated as a three-star prospect, committed to play college basketball in the United States for the University of Miami. In Miami, he played for the Hurricanes. Initially a reserve, George earned a starting spot in the middle of his freshman season due to injuries on the team. His standout performance quickly made him a key player, drawing attention as a potential candidate in the 2024 NBA Draft. After just one freshman season, George decided to declare for the draft.
Professional NBA Career
In the 2024 NBA Draft, Kyshawn George was selected by the New York Knicks as the 24th overall pick. However, he was immediately traded to the Washington Wizards in exchange for the 26th and 51st overall picks. On July 6, 2024, George signed a four-year contract worth $14.3 million with the Wizards. His NBA debut occurred on October 24, 2024, in a game against the Boston Celtics. In his rookie season, Kyshawn George demonstrated his three-point shooting ability, reaching 100 three-pointers in his 59th game, a feat that made him the fastest Wizards rookie to achieve this milestone, surpassing Bradley Beal’s previous record. He currently plays as a shooting guard and small forward for the Washington Wizards.
