Ruben Amorim ahead of the Bournemouth clash and UEFA Europa League semifinals provided the squad reports on Manchester United. With the club eyeing for a Champions League spot through UEL, the Red Devils will face Atheltic Club in the Leg 1 next week.
The Portuguese manager ruled out United’s full-back Diogo Dalot claiming he could possibly be out for the rest of the season. Dalot who has started most of the games for Amorim will come as a huge setback for the remaining United games.
🚨 Rúben Amorim: “I am critical because we are not winning games and we are Manchester United and near the bottom”.
When asked if the problem could rule the defender out of the remainder of 2024/25, head coach Amorim in his Bournemouth pre-game conference said:
“There is that possibility but I don’t know, we will check week by week, because he works really hard, he can recover quite well, so we will see.
“He has a problem with the muscle in his calf. He had a sequence of games, he played all the time. We tried to manage but some of the players have to play a lot of minutes and we have to protect the ones that we think are not so ready to cope with that, but Dalot felt something.”
Matthijs De Ligt and Amad Diallo Are Back In Training
Amid the setback from Dalot, Amorim had some positive news for the fans. The manager hinted that Matthijs De Ligt and Amad Diallo could return this month providing a defensive and attacking option to the squad.
Giving updates on their recovery process, Amorim told the media :
“Matthijs de Ligt is also close to returning in action from injury”
“Amad is near, his return is now close. As revealed last night, Amad will be back in training with the Man Utd squad next week.”

Although the return of De Ligt and Diallo is not confirmed against Bournemouth, Amorim is expected to have them available by next month. Providing the lack of depth due to injuries, their addition could play a huge role in the knockout games later on.
Manchester United will face Bournemouth on Saturday in the match week 35 of the Premier League. With 15 games lost and eight draws, Manchester United are nearing towards another disappointing English league campaign. With Europa League being something to fight for, Amorim has shifted the squad for precautions. Keeping his starting eleven at its full potential, United will have a lot riding on the coming few weeks.
