Getafe vs Real Madrid La Liga – No Chance of Taking It Easy To Stay in Title Race

Key Injuries, Predicted Lineups & Match Preview for the La Liga Clash on April 23.

Real Madrid will resume their La Liga title charge with a short trip across the Spanish capital to face Getafe at the Coliseum on Wednesday. Los Blancos are sitting four points behind league leaders Barcelona. Hence, to stay in the title race, Los Blancos will have to keep the pressure on.

Getafe, meanwhile, find themselves in 12th place and they’re now eyeing a potential late push for European qualification. Whereas, the visitors are balancing domestic ambitions and a looming Copa del Rey final. Hence, this midweek clash holds key implications for both sides.

What’s at Stake?

For Real Madrid, a win is essential to stay in the title race against the table-toppers Barcelona. They also need this win to build momentum ahead of Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against their El Clasico rivals. A win at Getafe would also mark their third straight La Liga away win.

Meanwhile, Getafe, despite recent struggles, are sitting comfortably above the relegation zone. With determined performances in the rest of their league games, they could sneak into the European mix with a strong finish. However, having lost six straight games to Real Madrid, the hosts don’t have the odds in their favour.

Getafe Injury News

Christantus Uche will miss the match as he will have to serve a suspension after seeing a red card against Espanyol. This could potentially pave the way for Juan Bernat’s return to the starting lineup. Diego Rico is available again after serving a one-match ban, and Juanmi could also feature.

Allan Nyom remains a doubt due to injury, with the medical team continuing to monitor his progress. Despite recent setbacks, Getafe will hope their reshuffled squad can break their poor run of form and offer a stronger showing at home against the Spanish giants.

Getafe probable starting lineup:

Soria; Rico, Alderete, Duarte, Djene; Bernat, Arambarri, Milla, Terrats, Coba; Juanmi

Real Madrid Injury News

Kylian Mbappe has completed his suspension but he still remains a doubt after sustaining an ankle injury during their Arsenal defeat in the Champions League. Even though chances are that he will be on the bench, Carlo Ancelotti may not want to risk him before the Copa del Rey final.

Rotation is expected, with David Alaba, Arda Guler, Lucas Vazquez, Endrick, Brahim Diaz, and Fran Garcia all in line to start the match. Long-term absentees Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal are still sidelined, while Ferland Mendy’s hamstring issue continues to keep him out of action.

Real Madrid probable starting lineup:

Courtois; Garcia, Alaba, Rudiger, Vazquez; Tchouameni, Valverde; Rodrygo, Guler, Brahim; Endrick
