Return Possible for Manchester United’s Loaned-Out Stars Antony and Marcus Rashford? Ruben Amorim Weighs In!

Marcus Rashford made his exit from Manchester United in February of 2025. Since he arrived at Aston Villa, Rashford has impressed with the turnaround. Unai Emery’s side has only lost one game since the 27-year-old’s arrival.

After a tough time at Old Trafford, Antony joined Real Betis in January. The Brazilian winger has stolen the show in La Liga since his arrival boosting Betis’ attacking prowess.

Manchester United may have accidentally weakened their side by loaning away Antony and Marcus Rashford. Their performances away from Old Trafford raise fundamental concerns about the club’s decision-making and whether these individuals were the real problem or merely victims of a dysfunctional system!

Ruben Amorim on Rashford and Antony’s Return To Manchester United

As Manchester United’s struggle continues, some may question Amorim’s decision to let some players go. When asked about Rashford’s recent success, the Portuguese manager said:

“I know Rashford well and everybody knows the talent that he has. So I already spoke about that. He’s a top player if he wants. So I’m not surprised. To see him doing well on loan, that for us is a good thing.”

Even though Amorim admires Rashford’s success, he will be pushed into the corner over a few transfers. Along with Rashford, Brazilian winger, Antony has also sparked conversations since his move to Real Betis.

Antony who joined the La Liga side in January has had a remarkable 2025. The 25-year-old has contributed to Real Betis. Starting eight games in La Liga, Antony has scored two goals and provided two assists.

Manager Amorim when asked about Antony’s possible return to Old Trafford said:

“Antony to return? I’m planning the future but I don’t want to talk about the future at this moment. I just want to focus on the games”.

Addressing Antony’s recent form, Amorim added:

“We see our players doing well on loan in a different context. That can happen and it’s a good sign for the club”.

While there are no signs and intentions of bringing his loaned-out players back, life isn’t getting any easier for Amorim. In what will be another unsuccessful season, the Portuguese manager will be under immense pressure this summer. With the injury to Amad Diallo, the absence of Antony has also been felt because of the depth. With not many options from the right, Amorim has also had to shift his attacking shape.

More players like Anthony Elanga and Jadon Sancho could also be added to the let go list. Playing under a different scrutiny has sparked their talents as they keep contributing to their respective clubs. The Red Devils have had a fair share of problems with managing players. With star players failing at the club but shining elsewhere, the fingers have started to be pointed towards the Manchester United dugout.

With the new boss arriving comes the new recruitment budget.

Showing some faith in their academy players and manager could turn out important for Manchester United. While it is uncertain if their loanees Rashford and Antony will return, they continue to perform for their respective teams.
