Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona Odds & Predictions – 04/02/2025

Mohak Arora

Atletico Madrid will host Barcelona in the second leg of the Copa Del Rey semi-final to decide which side will go through to the final and have a chance of lifting the coveted trophy.

In the first leg at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium, the fans witnessed a match worth the ticket money as a total of eight goals were scored within 90 minutes. Diego Simeone’s men started the away leg on the front foot by scoring two goals, but the hosts took control of the proceedings and staged a comeback, making the scoreline 4-2 in the 74th minute. The Rojiblancos then staged a comeback of their own, though, and scored two goals in the last few minutes of the first leg to enter the home leg at parity.

Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona Preview

With Real Madrid fighting Real Sociedad for a place in the 2024-25 Copa Del Rey semi-final, cross-town rivals Atletico Madrid will have to stave off the challenge of an in-form Barcelona team, which defeated Simeone’s men 4-2 a couple of weeks ago in the La Liga.

Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid’s dreams of winning the La Liga title were crushed when they lost 4-2 to Barcelona, opening up a 9-point gap between them and the league leaders. The Rojiblancos tasted defeat in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 as Real Madrid defeated them on penalties in the European competition yet again.

The Copa Del Rey presents the last opportunity for Simeone and his team to win a trophy this season and they will be backed by supporters in large numbers at home. Angel Correa and Koke will play no part on Wednesday as the former is serving a five-match suspension, while the club captain is out with a muscle injury. It would also be interesting to see whether Simeone sticks with his cup goalkeeper, Juan Musso, or reverts back to the first-choice Jan Oblak, who has the potential to thwart the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal.

Barcelona

Since Hansi Flick has taken over Barcelona, the Catalans certainly look much more confident on the field, whether in defense or attack. Having already won the Super Cup, Flick would be aiming for a quadruple in his maiden season with Barcelona as they are well-placed to win the La Liga, Copa Del Rey, and the UEFA Champions League as well, where they will face Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-final.

The Blaugrana would be welcoming several players back in the fold as Pau Cubarsi and Raphinha have been declared fully fit by the head coach after the Brazilian missed both of the last two league matches. Dani Olmo won’t be taking any part on Wednesday as the Spaniard is out with an injury, and either Gavi or Fermin Lopez could fill in for their compatriot.

Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona Player Picks

Robert Lewandowski (To Score a Goal @ +128 as per MGM Bet): The leading goalscorer in the 2024-25 La Liga season, Robert Lewandowski has scored 25 goals in La Liga matches and has scored 13 goals in other competitions including 3 goals in the ongoing Copa Del Rey campaign despite featuring for only 84 minutes in the cup competition this season.

Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona Match Prediction

Barcelona’s form and individual quality of star players might prove to be a bit too much for the Atletico defense but Simeone’s men are equally capable of playing expansive football and with a trophy in sight, the Rojiblancos might put in their best performance of the season yet.

Our Final Prediction: A 2-2 draw with Atletico Madrid winning on penalties to set up a potential Madrid Derby in the final.
