La Liga: Real Madrid vs Leganes – Injury News, Injury Update, Predicted Lineups and More

Coming back from the international break, Real Madrid take on Leganes at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday. Currently sitting in second place in the table, Los Blancos are trailing Barcelona by only three points. Whereas, Leganes, sitting in 18th place, are fighting to avoid relegation.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side went into the international break securing a 2-1 win against Villarreal. This was their fourth straight win across all competitions. They’ve been facing some challenges in La Liga. However, they’re still pushing for a treble with the Champions League quarter-finals against Arsenal and the Copa del Rey semi-finals ahead.

Whereas, Leganes, have endured a difficult season. They’re still hopeful of securing a spot in the top-flight next season. They’ve already lost twice to Real Madrid this season – a 3-0 league defeat in November and a 3-2 loss in the Copa del Rey. 

Even so, they’ve also enjoyed a rare away win against Barcelona earlier this season. Hence, they will be hopeful and eager to defy the odds again. Here’s the team news and injury updates which can affect the game for both teams.

Real Madrid Injury News

Real Madrid have a long list of injuries. They’re going into this match without Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy, Dani Ceballos, and Jesus Vallejo. Whereas, Thibaut Courtois will also remain sidelined due to muscular overload. However, coach Carlo Ancelotti does have a number of key players available. 

Vinicius Junior and Antonio Rudiger are set to return to the starting lineup. Whereas, Fran Garcia should cover for Mendy at the left-back position. Kylian Mbappe with has 31 goals this season will lead the attack as Madrid aim to maintain their dominance at the Bernabeu. They have already secured 34 points from 13 home matches.

Lunin; F Garcia, Rudiger, Asencio, Vazquez; Bellingham, Tchouameni, Valverde; Vinicius, Mbappe, Rodrygo

Leganes Injury News

Leganes are also facing several injury concerns ahead of their Madrid trip. Enric Franquesa has already been ruled out. Both Diego Garcia and Yvan Neyou are doubtful for the match. Late fitness tests will determine the availability for both players. Dani Raba, who scored twice against Real Betis, is expected to start at the centre.

Miguel de la Fuente could start the match on the bench. Juan Cruz, who netted twice against Madrid in the Copa del Rey, should play out wide. He’s also boasting seven goals and four assists this season. Despite their struggles on the road, Leganes will hope and be determined to upset one of La Liga’s strongest home sides.
