Manchester United’s $56 Million Star Set for Saudi Arabia Transfer: Report

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is preparing for his first summer transfer window. The 40-year-old Portuguese manager arrived at Old Trafford in November with high expectations, but his early tenure has been a mixed bag. Despite guiding the Red Devils to the quarter-finals of UEFA Europa league, he has not been able to improve the team’s performance in Premier League. United have continued to falter, sitting 13th in the table with just 37 points from 29 games.

As summer approaches, Amorim will be hoping for a significant squad overhaul to shape the team and reignite United’s push back to the top. According to the Sun, Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is reportedly on the verge of a sensational transfer to Saudi Arabia. The Cameroonian shot-stopper joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2023. But given his inconsistent form this season, Amorim is unhappy with the goalkeeper and is ready to ship him off to Saudi Arabia in the summer.

Onana arrived at Old Trafford with high expectations, following a £47.2 million ($56 million) transfer from Inter Milan. However, his debut Premier League campaign has been scratchy, filled with costly errors. There has also been a lot of scrutiny over his shot-stopping ability. Onana has managed to keep eight clean sheets in the league this season.

Man City’s Ederson Also on Saudi Clubs’ Radar

If Andre Onana does make the switch to Saudi Arabia, he’ll join a growing list of high-profile players who’ve left Europe’s top leagues in favor of the Middle East. Former Manchester United stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Alex Telles, and Odion Ighalo have already made the leap.

According to the same report, Manchester City’s Ederson is also attracting serious interest from the Saudi Pro League. As a result, both Manchester clubs are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper. Royal Antwerp’s rising star Senne Lammens has caught the attention of a number of Premier League sides, including Newcastle and West Ham, but it’s Manchester United and Manchester City who are leading the chase. Meanwhile, Lille’s 23-year-old standout Lucas Chevalier is also firmly on the radar of both clubs, having impressed scouts throughout the season.
