They Need To Go and Buy Two Attackers This Summer: Carragher

In the aftermath of Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher highlighted the urgent need for attacking reinforcements to support Mohamed Salah.

“It was probably one of the worst performances I’ve seen from Liverpool in a cup final,” Carragher told Sky Sports.

“But they’ve given so much this season and they’ve lost one league game. It’s hard to be too critical but it has shined a light on where Liverpool need to improve. The lack of pace in attack is glaring. I feel sorry for Mohamed Salah, he was kept quiet by PSG and he wasn’t great today but he doesn’t get help from the other attackers.“

“The other attackers are good players but they’re not great. They need to go and buy two attackers this summer to play alongside Salah,” Carragher concluded.

Salah, despite his prolific form this season, struggled to make any impact during the final against Newcastle United, failing to register a single shot or create any chances – a first in his Liverpool career.

Carragher expressed sympathy for Salah’s recent challenges, attributing them to a lack of support from his fellow attackers. He emphasized that the current supporting cast lacks the quality of former teammates like Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, who were instrumental during Jurgen Klopp’s tenure.
