“Had To Leave the To Win My Championship” – Former NFL Player Sides With DeMarcus Lawrence Amid Micah Parsons Beef

Recently the Dallas Cowboys lost DeMarcus Lawrence to the Seattle Seahawks. He signed a three-year $32.5 million contract which includes $18 million guaranteed. Lawrence was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft and spent 11 years playing for them.

Out of those 11 seasons, Lawrence and the Cowboys only went to the playoffs only six times and never reached the conference championship round. In fact the Cowboys haven’t been to the conference championship round since January of 1996! Whether it’s bad luck, terrible personnel, or bad coaching, they just have remained a mediocre or a bad team for the last 30 years or so.

What Happened Between Lawrence and Micah Parsons?

The lack of success for the Cowboys must have been bugging Lawrence a lot since he openly stated that if he were to remain a Cowboy, he would have never won a Super Bowl win them. This created a lot of buzz on the internet and Lawrence’s former teammate, Micah Parsons decided to respond to his comment. Parsons wrote, “This (is) what rejection and envy look like! This (is) some clown sh*t.”

Lawrence did not hold back and he replied “Calling me a clown won’t change the fact that I told the truth. Maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning, I wouldn’t have left.”

This back-and-forth between the two had mixed reactions on the internet. Some were mad at Lawrence whereas others found it true and absolutely hilarious. We had Stephen A. Smith laughing on his show and clowning the Cowboys, and even former NFL player Chris Canty sided with Lawrence’s comment.

Chris Canty Took Lawrence’s Side When It Came to the Cowboys and Their Super Bowl Chances

The Cowboys have become a laughing stock of the NFL and it seems nobody likes to hold back when they’re talking about the America’s team. Recently, Chris Canty did not hold back as he sided with Lawrence for his comments on the chances of the Cowboys winning a Super Bowl.

Canty said “Micah Parsons just got torched by Tank Lawrence, no lies told though.” He continued “At this stage of a player’s career if you can’t sell winning at the highest level, there’s no way a player’s gonna take a discount. For Tank Lawrence, this is a guy that’s been in Dallas across multiple coaches, across multiple quarterbacks, across different cores of players, and the results seem to be the same. You know why the results are the same? It’s because Jerry Jones and his ever elusive chase for credit post Jimmy Johnson has undermined the authority of the head coach at every single term within that franchise and that has been an impediment to creating the kind of culture it takes, in order to have success at the highest levels.”

“I should know. I had to leave the Dallas Cowboys to win my championship. The team that beat the best Cowboys team, that I was a part of, in 2007 was the New York Giants. And there was no reason, from a talent standpoint, that the Giants should have beaten the 07′ Dallas Cowboys. We had 13 pro-bowlers but they did, on their way to winning Super Bowl 42. The reality is that Jerry Jones still hasn’t figured out that the best players don’t always make the best team but the best team always wins. The Dallas Cowboys haven’t had trouble finding talented players but they haven’t figured out how to build a football team. And that’s where things are right now.”

“I can’t believe we’re saying this, I was there in 2007, it’s now 2025 and it’s still the same problem.”

When did Chris Canty win his Super Bowl?

Chris Canty played for three different teams in his NFL career and he was drafted by the Cowboys in fourth round of the 2005 NFL draft as the 132nd pick. He spent four seasons with the Cowboys before he moved on to the Giants and won his first and only Super Bowl ring in 2011. He finished his career playing for the Baltimore Ravens and retired after the 2015 season.
