The exchange, which quickly gained attention, was not a typical media-player interaction. Instead, Smith described it as a direct confrontation from a concerned father.

“That was LeBron James coming up to me, unexpectedly I might add, to confront me about making sure that I mind what I say about his son. said Smith. “That wasn’t a basketball player confronting me. That was a parent. That was a father.” added Stephen A. Smith.

Stephen A. Smith initially chose not to discuss the confrontation. However, after waking up to messages from ESPN colleagues and his agent, he realized the moment had gone viral.
