Reports: Cooper Kupp requests trade from the Rams

Rams part ways with Cooper Kupp in shocking trade decision.

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp has confirmed he will be traded. He announced the news Monday night on social media, expressing disappointment over the team’s decision.

“I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships,” Kupp wrote. “I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA.”

Cooper Kupp was the No. 69 pick by the Rams in 2017 — the second draft pick of Sean McVay’s tenure.

During his time in LA, Kupp has totaled 634 catches for 7,776 yards and 57 touchdowns, and won Offensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl MVP in 2021.

Kupp, who has played eight seasons with the Rams, hinted at his frustration but maintained composure, emphasizing resilience. “Still, if there’s one thing that I have learned over the years: there are so many things that are out of your control, but it is how you respond to these things that you will look back on and remember.” He thanked fans for their support. “I have taken so much pride in playing alongside my teammates for the LA community, so thank you for embracing my family and making this such a special place for us.”

From triple crown to injury setbacks

Kupp peaked in 2021, securing the NFL receiving triple crown with 145 catches, 1,947 yards, and 16 touchdowns. His performance earned him NFL Offensive Player of the Year, a first-team All-Pro spot, and a Pro Bowl selection.

That postseason, he delivered clutch plays, racking up 478 yards and six touchdowns across four playoff games. His eight catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning score, earned him Super Bowl LVI MVP honors in the Rams’ 23-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Since then, injuries have hampered Kupp. Over the past three seasons, he only surpassed 800 yards once. This year, he played 12 games, recording 67 receptions for 710 yards and six touchdowns after an ankle injury in Week 2.

Preparing for a new chapter

Despite setbacks, Kupp remains determined. “2024 began with one of the best training camps of my career,” he noted. “Preparations start now for 2025. Highly motivated, as healthy as ever, and looking forward to playing elite football for years to come.”
