Patrick Mahomes vs Jalen Hurts: Who has played better in the postseason this year amongst the two star QBs?

Eric Divakaran

Jalen Hurts had a phenomenal run in the 2024 season. He finished the 2024 regular season with 2903 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, 14 rushing touchdowns and 630 rushing yards. He had his best season as a passer after he finished 68.7 percent on pass completion rate. He helped the Philadelphia Eagles secure the second seed in the NFC with a 14-3 record in the conference. Hurts was criticized last season, in 2023, as he threw a career worst, 15 interceptions and was often trying to do too much from his end. However, this season, Hurts and the Eagles quietly beat all of the opposition to reach the Super Bowl once again. It is his second Super Bowl appearance in three seasons and after taking a loss in the first Super Bowl, Hurts is certainly looking for vengeance this time around.

Patrick Mahomes has had quite a run himself. He had 3928 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, 2 rushing touchdowns, and 307 rushing yards. While his numbers were down this season, the Chiefs were still the best team in the AFC finishing with a 15-2 record. At this point, it looks like individual awards are not a priority for Mahomes anymore. He may just be focused more on winning multiple Super Bowls before it’s all said and done. Mahomes and the Chiefs are now in their third-straight Super Bowl. They are looking forward to being the first team in the NFL to three-peat.

Today we look at which quarterback has performed in the 2024 playoffs so far.

Who has the better stats in the 2024 playoffs so far: Mahomes or Hurts?

Both the quarterbacks have led their teams into the Super Bowl but let’s see who has the better stats in the playoffs so far;

CategoriesPatrick Mahomes Jalen Hurts
Passing yards422505
Rushing yards58122
Passing touchdowns2 3
Rushing Touchdowns24
Passing Completion Percentage66.7%69.6%
Total games played 23

It is important to note that Patrick Mahomes has only played in two playoffs games and Jalen Hurts has played in 3. This is because the Chiefs had the best regular season record in the AFC with 15-2, which automatically gets them to the divisional round. While the Eagles were the 2nd seed in the NFC, they still had to play in the wildcard round.

Even though Hurts has played in 3 playoff games, compared to Mahomes’ 2. However, Hurts has been the better passer in the playoffs so far. He has 69.6% pass completion rate to Mahomes 66.7%.

Which team is the Favorite to win Super Bowl LIX?

The Chiefs are the favorite team to win-it-all this season with an advantage of 1.5 points. The Eagles are looked as the underdog going into the matchup. However, the Eagles have a much more diverse offense this time around. If the Chiefs fail to contain the Eagles’ running game, we could have a new Super Bowl champion.

If the Eagles defeat the Chiefs, it will only be their second Super Bowl in their franchise history. On the other hand, if the Chiefs win-it-all, they could become the first team in NFL history to three-peat. Both the teams have a lot on the line.

I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
