Colorado Avalanche Reassign Chris Wagner to AHL Affiliate Eagles

Anamika Shrivastava

Veteran forward Chris Wagner heads to Colorado Eagles, adding depth and experience to the Avalanche’s AHL roster.

Chris Wagner has been reassigned to the Colorado Eagles in the AHL after a brief stint with the Colorado Avalanche. He was called up last Thursday and played in a game against his former team, the Boston Bruins, but didn’t register any points in just under seven minutes of ice time.

Chris Wagner had a steady NHL career from 2015 to 2021, mainly with the Bruins. Over five seasons, he played 186 games, with his best year coming in 2017-18, when he scored 12 goals and 7 assists in 76 games. However, after the shortened 2020-21 season, Wagner played only two NHL games over the next two years before joining Colorado in 2023.

Since then, Wagner has bounced between the AHL and NHL, appearing in 13 NHL games last season and 24 this season. However, his performance has been underwhelming, with just one goal, a -7 plus/minus rating, and a low offensive impact. He’s been averaging only about 6:55 of ice time per game with the Avalanche.

In the AHL, Wagner has had more success, recording 4 goals and 7 assists in 16 games. He’s been placed on waivers three times this season but cleared each time without any issues.

I’ve always loved writing and storytelling, and hockey gives me a perfect stage for endless stories to tell. Whether it’s breaking down a game, analyzing a big trade, or capturing the emotions on the ice, I bring the NHL to life through words. So what’s the best part you ask? Watching the action unfold and turning it into something fans can connect with. To my readers: Hockey is more than just a game—it’s the highs, the heartbreaks, and the moments that make us jump off our seats. So, keep cheering, keep debating, and never stop loving the madness of the sport!
