MLB The Show 2025 cover athletes revealed

The game will be released on March 18 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

Ahead of the release of MLB The Show 2025 on March 18, Sony San Diego Studio (SSDS) began revealing new details on Monday, January 27. Each year, fans eagerly anticipate and speculate about which athlete will be featured on the cover of the latest edition. However, this year, it seems the cover will feature not one, but multiple athletes. Shortstop Elly De La Cruz, pitcher Paul Skenes, and shortstop Gunnar Henderson have all confirmed their inclusion as the cover stars for MLB The Show 2025.

Elly De La Cruz

The first to announce his involvement was De La Cruz, a shortstop for the Cincinnati Reds. In just two seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), De La Cruz has made an immediate impact. In 2024, he led the league in stolen bases with 67. He also finished eighth in National League MVP voting and earned his first All-Star selection.

Gunnar Henderson

A few hours after De La Cruz’s announcement, Baltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson countered the video by claiming that he would be the one to grace the cover of MLB The Show 2025. Now entering his third season in the league, Henderson has become one of the Orioles’ standout young players. He was named American League Rookie of the Year in 2023 and finished fourth in the 2024 AL MVP race. Last year, he hit 37 home runs and drove in 92 RBIs.

Paul Skenes

Finally, Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher and sensation Paul Skenes also confirmed his spot on the game’s cover. Skenes made his MLB debut last season and quickly became a dominant force. In his first professional year, he was named Rookie of the Year and finished third in National League Cy Young voting. Over 23 games, he recorded 170 strikeouts and posted a 1.96 ERA across 133 innings.
