NFL Conference Championship Games: Only 4 Teams Had This Stat In The Regular Season And They Are All Here!

Eric Divakaran

The 2024 NFL postseason has been exciting so far. After the wildcard round and the divisional round there have been some surprises for sure. The Chiefs are not surprising so let’s get them out of the way. However, the Bills, Eagles, and now the Commanders? Who would have thought that the Commanders, of all the teams, would be in the final four at the start of the season? I didn’t and this is coming from a Commanders fan.

The Chiefs have been dominant all season and there’s only one thing they’re after, the Superbowl. Anything short of winning the title would be considered failure for them. They have a chance to three-peat in the 2024 season and everyone knows Patrick Mahomes wants that Superbowl trophy bad. A three-peat would arguably make Chiefs the greatest team of all time and Mahomes can start calling himself the G.O.A.T. Or at least his fans will, that’s for sure.

The Eagles are quietly making strides this season after a disappointing year in 2023. They are the two seed in the NFC conference and are looking to win the Super Bowl for the first time under Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts.

The Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen had a phenomenal season and has helped his team reach the AFC Conference championship round. They beat the Denver Broncos effortlessly in the wildcard round. They advanced to the divisional round where they won against the Ravens squad, and now are headed to face the Chiefs. This will be Josh Allen’s second AFC Conference championship appearance and it has also ended a streak of three straight divisional title losses.

Last but not the least are the Commanders. In my people’s eyes, they have overachieved this season. The Commanders were the 6th seed in NFC who have taken down the 3rd seeded Buccaneers and the 1st seeded Detroit Lions. All of this has happened under the leadership of Dan Quinn and the rookie QB Jayden Daniels. The two have turned the franchise around and headed to the Commanders are headed to their first conference championship since 1991.

Only Four NFL Teams had a Conversion Rate Above 70% on 4th Downs

If we talk about coincidence in the NFL, we get the final four teams remaining in the 2024-25 NFL playoffs. The Commanders, the Bills, the Chiefs, and the Eagles are the four teams who have the conversion rate above 70 percent and they are also the final four remaining. Let’s get a more detailed look on these teams.

The Commanders: This team has been winning all season long and the biggest part of their game is 4th down conversions. Led by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, the franchise had a 4th down conversion of 87.0 percent! The highest percentage in the league and by far the best. If you’ve been hearing about Daniels being a clutch player, you heard correct.

Even recently, going against the Buccaneers, Daniels helped his team win by rushing to make a 4th down conversion. With players like Terry Mclaurin, Dyami Brown, and Daniels, it will be scary going against the Commanders.

The Bills: It is no secret that the Bills are an excellent team when it comes to 4th down conversions. They are at 4th down conversions with a percentage of 72.7. Josh Allen creates all sorts of havoc as his rushing and his passing game are both at an elite level. The Bills are 16-22 when it comes to their 4th down conversions and wide receiver Khalil Shakir, RB James Cook, and Allen are the biggest threats.

The Chiefs: Coming in at third place is the Chiefs. They convert 70.6% on the 4th downs and it has helped them stay at the top of the AFC conference. Their biggest contributors being Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes has 66 fourth-down conversions all-time and has been clutch throughout his career.

The Eagles: The Eagles are at the 4th spot with a 4th down conversion rate of 70.4%. Their biggest contributors are RB Saquon Barkley, tight end Dallas Goedert, and of course Jalen Hurts.

All these teams will face off in the Conference championship. Get your popcorns ready because there will certainly be a lot of clutch plays happening! Most expect the Eagles and the Chiefs to advance further but looking at the Commanders and the Bills’ firepower, one can’t be too sure.

I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
