Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant, regarded as one of the greatest players to step on to the court, continues to hold a special place in fans’ hearts, even five years after his tragic passing. It was on January 26, 2020, when the news of Bryant’s sudden and tragic death sent shockwaves across the globe and left a void which can never be filled.

The five-time NBA champion, who spent most of his time at the Lakers, Bryant was a 15-time member of the All-NBA Team, and a 12-time member of the All-Defensive Team. It was not long after signing his three-year rookie contract worth $3.5 million, Bryant went on to become one of the most decorated NBA players.

Bryant, along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, lost his life in the helicopter crash near Los Angeles in 2020. It’s been five years to his death, but his legacy continues to live on. Most Points Scored In Three Quarters

The 18-time NBA All-Star dropped 62 points during the Lakers’ blow-out win over the Dallas Mavericks in December 2005. By crossing the 60-figure mark, Kobe had already outscored the entire Mavs squad by one point. Bryant maintained his dominance throughout the game and needed just three quarters to seal the deal.

The second unbreakable record that Bryant holds to his name is the record of playing the most number of games for the LA Lakers. Bryant spent two decades of his glorious career with the Lakers, and during his stay, he played a whopping 1,346 games and led them to 5 NBA titles. With players not having such long careers, it seems nearly impossible that someone would be able to break this record.

Oldest NBA Player to score the highest points

Kobe’s famous 60-pointer performance, which came during the game against the Utah Jazz on April 13, 2016. It was Bryant’s last 60-point play, which made him the oldest player to reach the 60-point mark. The Pennsylvania-born was 37 years and 234 days old at the time.

Most points for LA Lakers

Bryant, who became the second-youngest player ever to play in an NBA Game at the age of 18 years and 72 days, went on to score most points for the Lakers. After debuting in 1996, he spent the entire 20 years of his career with the Lakers. During his tenure, he went on to score 33,643 points with a total of 1,827 three pointers for them, the highest in the list. He is followed by Jerry West and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the second and third spot, respectively, on the standings.

Youngest Slam Dunk Contest Winner

A young lad, Bryant, while being in rookie year, won the Slam Dunk Contest in February 1997. He bested the likes of Ray Allen, Chris Carr, Darvin Ham, Michael Finley, and Bob Sura. Bryant was just 18 years and 169 days old, and considering how even after almost 28 years the record remains intact, indicating that this record will never be broken.
