Sam Darnold has been nothing less than a revelation this year. The 3rd overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft had 3 underwhelming seasons with the Jets before being traded to the Panthers. There too, Darnold had to compete with fellow draft mate Baker Mayfield for the starting position.

After being back-up to Brock Purdy, Darnold landed at Minnesota and what a season it has been for him! Yes, he had sort of an underwhelming performance in the most important game of the season. But take nothing away from Sam Darnold. The Vikings QB has earned his spot in the playoffs and tonight, he has a chance to prove that he is worthy of a hefty contract when this is all done and dusted.

This will be the second playoff outing for Kevin O’Connell as the Vikings head coach. And he would surely like to get a win on his postseason record. But Sam Darnold and co. have a challenge in front of them tonight.

The Minnesota Vikings will take on the Los Angeles Rams in the last game of the NFL wildcard round. The game was moved from the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California to the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona because of the wildfires in Los Angeles.

The 4th seeded Rams will take on the 5th seeded Vikings tonight but the teams have already met in week 8 of the 2025 regular season. The Rams handed the Vikings a 30-20 defeat in the TNF game. But the Vikings had a regular season record of 14-3 through week 18 as compared to the Rams’ 10-7.

A win here for either team will take them to Lincoln Financial Field, where they will face Nick Sirianni’s Philadelphia Eagles. The NFC divisional round already has a contest between the Lions and the Commanders.

The Vikings come to this game as the favorites but Kevin O’Connell and co. will not count out the Rams!
