The NBA and the Clippers and Lakers organizations have been in communication with local officials in Los Angeles.

The NBA decided to postpone two more games due to the ongoing wildfires in the Los Angeles area. The league postponed Saturday’s San Antonio Spurs-Los Angeles Lakers game in Los Angeles and the Charlotte Hornets-Los Angeles Clippers game in Inglewood, California.

The league shared a news release which reads, “The NBA and the Clippers and Lakers organizations have been in communication with local officials in Los Angeles and Inglewood about the ongoing situation in the Los Angeles area and the game postponements ensure no resources will be diverted.”

It will be the second game for the Lakers which has been postponed due to emergency situation in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, the Clippers are scheduled to play the Hornets at Intuit Dome on Saturday but it’s also postponed by the NBA.

Lakers head coach JJ Redick recently addressed that his family lost their home to the Palisades Fire. “We’re prepared for whatever tomorrow,” Redick said after the practice session. “We, obviously, are going to work with the NBA, the Spurs, the city and do what’s right. I want to play tomorrow. I want to coach tomorrow. I want these guys to play tomorrow. If we can play, we’ll play.”

Los Angeles Clippers came after a two-game road trip and Kawhi Leonard, who opted out from the last game due to help his family evacuate their home, has re-joined the team on Friday.

The Lakers and the Clippers have home games scheduled for Monday, against the Spurs and the Heat, respectively. NBA would take a call on both games after monitoring the situation on Sunday. The NFL has already shifted the Los Angeles Rams’ wild-card playoffs game to Glendale, Arizona. NHL have postponed LA King’s one home game due to wildfire.
