It has been a classic comeback for Jannik Sinner, who has dropped only one set en route to the final. After losing the opening set 1-6 in the semis, the Italian ace came back and thrashed Tommy Paul 6-0, 6-3 in final two sets to set a date with Alcaraz for title glory.
Sinner, the No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings, is one victory away to win his fifth Masters 1000 crown. Chasing her first clay court title, Jannik Sinner will become second Italian in history to win Rome Maters after Adriano Panatta in 1976.
On the other hand, Alcaraz is on a glorious winning run and enters his eighth Masters 1000 final with the most wins (25) on Tour this year. The Spaniard is chasing his third title of the season and the fourth on Sunday would give him a big confidence to defend his title in Ronald Garros. The four-time major champion dismantled Jack Draper and Lorenzo Musetti en route to the Rome final.
The ATP Head2Head record between Alcaraz and Sinner is 6-4 in favour of the Spaniard. Alacraz is on a three-match winning streak against the Italian superstar. On clay court, both stars are tied at 1-1. Alcaraz beat Sinner in the Roland Garros semi-final last year and the Italian ace prevailed in the 2022 Umag final.
The men’s singles Internazionali BNL d’Italia 2025 final will close the events’ proceedings on Sunday evening. Prior to Sinner vs Alcaraz will be the men’s and women’s doubles finals.
