2025 WNBA Playoffs Result: Seattle Storm Avoid Series Sweep, Snap Las Vegas Aces’ 17-Game Winning Streak

The Seattle Storm pulled off a furious comeback and registered an 86-83 victory over the Las Vegas Aces in 2025 WNBA Playoffs Game 2. With the victory, the Storm not only snapped Aces’ 17-game winning streak, but also forced a series decider. Action will now shift back to Michelob Ultra Arena on Thursday, and the winner will inch a step closer to the coveted trophy.

Skylar Diggins led the Storm with 26 points, one rebound, and seven assists. She was shooting 10-of-20 from the field and 4-of-6 from the deep. Nneka Ogwumike added 24 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists, while shooting 4-of-5 from the three-point range. Dominique Malonga and Erica Wheeler chipped in 11 points each, as the Storm recorded their first playoffs win since 2022. Malonga is now the second rookie in WNBA history to start their playoff career with back-to-back double-doubles.

Overall, Storm shot 33/72 from the field and 10/20 from the three-point range, while restricting the Aces to 28/56 from the field and 7/19 from beyond the arc.

The Aces, who suffered their first loss since August 2, were led by Jackie Young’s 25 points, five rebounds, and four assists. A’ja Wilson came up with 21 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists in 38 minutes of action, whereas Jewell Loyd added 13 points, one rebound, and two assists off the bench.

Dominique Malonga’s And-One Bucket in Final Seconds Edge Storm Towards Victory

It was a close contest in the opening quarter, where Nneka Ogwumike added most of the Storm’s points. At one point, she had 11 of their 13 points, but once the Aces got their offense into motion, things started shifting, and the Aces built a slight lead towards the end of the half. After trailing the opening quarter 21-22, both teams tied at 23 points at halftime. This gave a slight edge to the visitors, and they entered the second half with a 45-44 lead.

In the third quarter, the Aces went up by as many as 14 points, owing to an incredible quarter from Jackie Young. However, the hosts didn’t hold, and forced themselves back into the game. The Storm went on a 7-0 run in the fourth quarter to come within two points of the Aces with 2:35 minutes remaining in the game. Wheeler came up with 11 points in the final period for the Storm.

In the final minute of the game, Malonga made a layup and ensured a free throw. This gave the Storm their first lead since the second quarter, and they were up 84-83, with 31 seconds left on the clock. Chelsea Gray had a turnover trying to find Jackie Young in the lane. Ogwumike took an inbound pass, and held the ball near midcourt before giving it to Diggins. She hit a jumper with 4.7 seconds remaining to seal the deal. Loyd had a chance to tie the game at the end, but missed a three-pointer that would have sent the game into overtime.
