The New York Knicks are up against the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Eastern Conference Finals are here! After the Indiana Pacers paved their way through to Round 3 of the NBA Playoffs 2025, the New York Knicks secured their berth by taking down the reigning champions, Boston Celtics. Both teams are up against each other in a best-of-seven series, which began on May 21 at Madison Square Garden. In the series opener, the Indiana Pacers recorded a 138-135 OT win and kicked off the series with a bang, and later solidified their domination with a 114-109 win.

The winner of the series will take on the winner of the Western Conference Final winners in the summit clash for the coveted Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy. Coming back to the Pacers, the fourth-seeded Eastern team finished with a 50-32 record in the regular season. On the other hand, the Knicks finished a spot higher with a 51-31 record in the regular season. 

While Indiana began its playoff journey by taking down the Milwaukee Bucks 4-1 in the opening round, New York registered a 4-2 win over the Detroit Pistons. In the conference semifinals, both teams pulled off staggering upsets over upper-seeded teams. 

The Pacers took down the table-toppers Cleveland Cavaliers, while the Knicks defeated the reigning champions, Boston Celtics. This is the second-straight conference finals appearance for the Pacers, and first in 25 years for the Knicks.

As the 2024-25 season moves a step closer to its conclusion, things are going to get more exciting, thrilling and dramatic. With the Knicks and Pacers gearing up for Game 3 of the series, scheduled on Sunday, May 25, let’s see which team maintains an upper hand in NBA Playoffs.

The New York Knicks and the Indiana Pacers have faced each other in a total of eight playoff series, with the Eastern Conference Finals 2025 being the ninth meeting. In those eight series, the Pacers have emerged victorious five times, whereas the Knicks registered three series victories. In terms of NBA Playoff games, both teams have played 50 games, where the Pacers came out on top on 28 occasions and the Knicks in 22 games.

Their first meeting in the playoffs came during the 1993 Eastern Conference First Round, where the Knicks defeated the Pacers 3-1.

It means that while the Pacers maintain an upper hand in the playoffs, the Knicks have been maintaining a heavy lead in the regular season. However, both Knicks and Pacers have tied the overall record.
