The Dallas Mavericks won the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery held on Monday, May 12, at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago. With this, the Mavericks have landed the No. 1 overall pick for the NBA Draft 2025, scheduled to be held on June 25 and June 26 in New York. The Mavericks entered the lottery as heavy underdogs with 11th best odds of 1.8% to win the No. 1 overall pick.

It means that the Mavericks, who have had a rough 2024-25 season, would be able to land Cooper Flagg. The Duke superstar had been on the radar of all 14 teams following his NCAA heroics. Earlier during the WNBA 2025 Draft, Dallas Wings drafted Paige Bueckers as the first overall pick, and now the Mavericks, who had never won the Draft Lottery, have a chance to do it with Flagg.

Apart from the Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs, who have had two back-to-back Rookie of the Year as Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle, got second overall pick. On the other hand, the Philadelphia 76ers, who entered the lottery with 10.5% odds got third overall pick. The three teams that ended with the worst results and the highest chances of winning the Draft Lottery- the Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards and the Charlotte Hornets, ended up with fifth, sixth, and fourth picks, respectively.
