The Chinese GP 2025 comes to and end with a blockbuster finish from McLaren.
The 2025 Chinese Grand Prix has finally come to an end with Oscar Piastri claiming the much-awaited victory. Piastri redeemed himself after his costly mistake in Melbourne. Piastri won the race from pole position in a dominant display of McLaren’s speed. Norris claimed second place after a shaky weekend. The 2025 Chinese Grand Prix was full of surprises throughout the race. The sprint race had already determined the fate of tyres in the Chinese GP. Throughout the race, drivers were struggling to maintain the traction on their graining tyres.
The Chinese GP marks the end of the first sprint weekend of Formula 1. Lewis Hamilton was the sprint race winner but unfortunately, he couldn’t steal the spotlight during the race. The Chinese GP race results are published by Formula 1. Fernando Alonso was the only driver to retire during the race. His car suffered from overheating brakes leading Alonso to an early disappointment. Let’s have a look through the race results from Shanghai.

The race winner Oscar Piastri had a dream weekend to compensate for his failures in the first race of the season. Piastri started his race on pole and and was able to create a massive lead within the first few laps of the race. He was rewarded for his race craft with an uneventful race. Norris on the other hand was suffering from tyre graining and had to defend against George Russell. He had to ask Piastri for help in order to create more distance between himself and Russell.
George Russell, on a one-stop strategy, was alone against Charles Leclerc. Russell was in the DRS range of the much faster Ferrari but he managed to fend off Leclerc until his tyres were degraded enough. Russell has been consistently grabbing podiums for Mercedes in the past two races. Max Verstappen on the other hand had a disappointing weekend in his Red Bull.
Leclerc and Hamilton's DSQs means Ocon now finishes P5 and Bearman P8 – a total haul of 14 points! https://t.co/ZDlCkpE76P

Verstappen bottled his start and lost places to the Ferraris instantly. He spent the majority of the race watching the rear wing of Lewis Hamilton. Although, he managed to make up for his less than amazing race by overtaking the two Ferraris in the final laps. Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman managed to secure a huge point haul for Haas with their double points finish. Ocon finished fifth and Bearman finished sixth. Williams too had a chance too rejoice. The triple disqualification of drivers meant that both Sainz and Albon would claim points. Stroll finished in points for Aston Martin after a strong first stint on his hard tyres.

nhl I work as a Writer at The Playoffs specialising in NHL, Formula 1 and Motorsports. I got into online journalism a couple of years ago. I used to be an intern for a website managing their Formula 1 content and then I served an entire year as a contractual writer.
Read moreFor me, online journalism was not something I expected. I am a Mechanical Engineer aiming to join Formula 1. At the same time, I am a poet, writer and my university’s Literary Club Lead. One day the dots connected together and I realised I could use my writing skills to convey my passion for Motorsports.
The biggest aspects I love about my role are- Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. When I am not fawning over them I like to convey my opinions to the public, in a manner which helps them gain a new point of view. I love helping people explore new ideas about Motorsports and obviously get recognised as a writer all over the world.
