The winners of the G League Winter Showcase championship will be awarded a $100,000 prize.

NBA G League announced the eight teams for the Winter Showcase Cup at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The tournament will kick off this week with a Championship game scheduled on Sunday.

Winter Showcase is an in-season scouting event in which over 200 players compete in front of general managers and other executives. The NBA G League Showcase helps young players complete their dream of getting an NBA contract. NBA teams can sign free agents to 10-day contracts and the majority of players are free agents in the G League.

Here are the key details of the 2024 G League Winter Showcase:

2024 G League Showcase Format

The G-League season has been divided into a 16-game Tip-Off Tournament and a 34-game regular season. League’s 31 teams will be separated into four regional pods – Central, East, South, and West. All teams play 14 games against each other in NBA G League markets. Only 8 teams qualify for the Winter Showcase based on their performance.

The four teams with the best winning percentage in each region take a direct qualification and the remaining four come through with the best winning percentage regardless of region.

It’s a single-elimination tournament where teams cannot get another chance after the defeat. The tournament starts with the quarterfinal round. The winners will compete in the semifinals and then, they will play the Championship game.

The teams that didn’t qualify for the tournament will play two games over four days. It will also feature teams from the NBA Academy Global, NBA Academy Latin America and NBA Academy Africa. Bronny James’ South Bay Lakers will take part in non-tournament games.
